For retention or promotion outside of regular grade level progression, the following factors shall be considered: chronological age, social and emotional development, previous school experience, academic achievement, overall class standing, health issues and student and parent perspective.
The principal and his/her designee shall request the student’s teachers to write an evaluation and recommendation including assessment data, as a basis for discussion. Parents shall be notified that retention or promotion outside of regular grade level progression is being considered and their opinion requested. Final recommendations shall be made by the principal by March.
The decision of the Head of School shall be final.
