Abbreviations in common use at Frankfurt International School. These definitions are intended to provide guidance and clarification.

ADCON

Administrative Council, the Leadership Team of FIS. Members include the Admissions and Advancement Director, the Athletics Director, the Director of Finance and Operations, the Assistant Director of Finance and Operations, the ICT Director, the Head of School, the Assistant Head of School, the Administrative Assistant to the Head of School, the division Principals and Assistant Principals.

Faculty and Staff

Employees with teaching responsibilities are generally referred to as 'faculty' at FIS. All other employees are generally referred to as 'staff'.

Parents / Legal Guardians

Wherever the term ‘parent’ is mentioned, this refers to the child’s legal guardian under German law, which stipulates that the parents of a minor child are the legal guardians of that child, and that the parents may designate who shall become the child's legal guardian in the event of the parents’ deaths.
