Harassment is an act that creates an intimidating or hostile environment for employment or study. Harassment includes unwanted hostile or offensive acts or expressions against an aspect or aspects of a person’s identity, as well as unwanted conduct of a sexual nature.
Discrimination is the unjust treatment of an individual based on an aspect or aspects of their identity.
It is the responsibility of all employees and other community members to report cases of harassment or discrimination to an appropriate administrator in accordance with the regulation 1.52R Complaints, Grievances and Whistleblowing.
An inquiry will be carried out into concerns that fall within the school's definition of harassment or discrimination.
FIS will treat concerns raised in relation to harassment and discrimination with particular sensitivity and confidentiality. FIS will, if appropriate, be advised by specialists.
Where a concern does not fall within the school’s definition of harassment or discrimination, where appropriate, support will be offered and efforts will be made to restore relationships.
