Part of the professional responsibility of being a teacher at FIS is to be available to students during the school day. Faculty and staff may not accept additional payment for tutoring services carried out during the school day. FIS faculty may not tutor their own students, unless special permission has been granted by the divisional principal.
If additional tutoring is required, the counselors have a list of tutors available for families.
Organizing and payment for this tutoring is the responsibility of the parents. The tutor is responsible for all matters related to fees and taxation of these fees.
FIS employees must inform the divisional principal of any tutoring taking place at school. The divisional principal will provide the Head of School annually with the list of teachers providing tutoring services within the school facilities.
This tutoring may be carried out in common spaces or classrooms with the approval of the person responsible for the space. As long as they meet the requirements for working with children on the school premises, tutors are not required to be current teaching faculty members.
