FIS students are responsible for their choices and actions. When redirection is required responses fall within the framework that has been developed for all divisions. The aim is to have student take ownership of the problem and responsibility to change their behaviours or choices
1) Teachable Moments
Student behaviours that can be address immediately (these are the majority of interactions dealing with conduct at FIS)Response:
Report to: No one. It is dealt with directly at the time by faculty / staff member
Responsibility: All faculty and staff
Parent Notification: Not needed at this point
Action to include: Teaching student appropriate behaviour and / or redirecting
2) Patterns of poor choices or a moderate behaviour issue
Response:
Report to: Homeroom teacher @ PS, ES and WS or Counsellor @ ES, US or Year Head @ US
Responsibility: Homeroom teachers, Year Head, or Counsellor person it was reported to
Parent Notification: Parent contacted by phone or email by the responsible person
Action to include, yet not limited to: Development of a behaviour plan, detention, student conference, completion of student reflection form, time limited or restrictions during breaks
3) Continued patterns of poor choices or a serious behaviour issue Conduct Expectations
Response:
Report to: Principal or Assistant Principal
Responsibility: Principal or Assistant Principal + year head or counsellor as needed
Parent Notification: Parent contacted for a meeting with Principal or Assistant Principal
Action to include, yet not limited to: Behaviour monitoring, management cards, student contract, parent / student conference, detention, suspension (internal or external)
4) Behaviour is a threat to FIS community or considered Non-Negotiable8.402 Student Conduct and Discipline

Responsibility: Head of School or administrative designee
Parent Notification: Parent contacted for a meeting with Head of School
Action to include, yet not limited to: investigation, conference, external suspension and possible expulsion
