1. Faculty and staff are not allowed to use their position in the school, other than via approved school communication mediums, to market goods or services to students and/or parents. This includes but is not limited to the marketing of tutoring services, private excursions, or personal items.
2. Community notice boards located on campus and FIS-approved online sites can be used by faculty, staff and parents to sell goods and services or market events to fellow community members.
3. The school may invite private individuals and enterprises to sell items during school events such as Applefest and Worldfest. It must be clearly communicated at such events which vendors are generating revenues for the school and which vendors are generating revenues for private interests.
4. Private enterprises that provide supplemental resources or opportunities can be utilized and marketed as deemed appropriate by the school administration. Examples would be the use of donated health care items used in teaching a health unit or donated sportswear used by athletic teams. Programs that supplement athletics or the performing arts or REAL at FIS may also be allowed to market at FIS with administrative approval.
5. With Board approval, the school may offer naming rights or marketing opportunities to individuals or businesses that provide a substantial donation of funds, goods or services to the school. For example, an individual or business offering to pay more than 50% of a building project may be allowed to have a plaque and/or signage that communicate the name of the donor.
6. The school’s policy that governs solicitation and marketing also applies to organizations within the school, such as the PTG, SPA, Athletics Booster Club and student clubs.
7. The limitations outlined in the policy include both electronic and published communications. This includes but is not limited to the use of school email, website, social media platforms, magazines, newsletters, and materials sent home to parents with students.
