A 'device' for the purposes of this Bring Your Own Device regulation includes any privately owned wireless or portable electronic equipment, such as laptops, notebooks, netbooks, tablets, e-readers, smartphones, and gaming devices.
Frankfurt International School (FIS) has the authority to protect its network and associated technical resources.
User Responsibilities:
Users bringing personal devices on campus must adhere to the school's technology use regulations and the Responsible Use Agreement (RUA), which students and their parents/guardians must sign as part of the student handbook.
Guest users connecting to the Guest Wi-Fi network agree to the FIS RUA.
Users are fully responsible for their devices and must keep them secure. The school is not liable for any loss or damage to personal devices.
Inspections and Violations:
The school may inspect a student’s device if there is reason to believe the RUA, technology use guidelines, School Code of Conduct, or any other rules have been violated.
Violations involving personal devices may result in device confiscation and/or disciplinary action.
Recording and Posting:
Recording, transmitting, or posting photos, audio, or video of individuals on campus requires specific consent in accordance with § 22 Kunsturheberrechtsgesetz (German art copyright law).
Classroom Use:
Devices may only be used during class time for classroom-related activities.
Security Measures:
FIS uses filtering software and other technologies to protect the school community. Attempts to bypass these filters are strictly prohibited and will be treated as a violation of these guidelines.
