Educational accreditation is a quality assurance process under which services and operations of educational institutions are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. If standards are met, accredited status is granted by the appropriate agency.
FIS shall continuously maintain accreditation by a recognized United States based accrediting agency and one or more recognized international agencies, to include the International Baccalaureate. Accreditation from a Unites States based accrediting agency is required in order that a High School Diploma or courses from FIS can be recognized by schools, colleges, or universities in the United States. FIS may choose to align the accreditation provided by the United States association with a recognized international accrediting agency.
Accreditation is important to FIS in order to:
ensure that the school provides, on an ongoing basis, a quality educational program for its students, based upon appropriate and clearly defined goals and objectives;
aid the process of fostering excellence in all areas of the school's operations;
engage the school community in analysis, organizational reflection, and planning against standards;
encourage school improvement through a process of continuous self-study and peer review;
ensure integrity of public descriptions of FIS programs, an institutional commitment to continuous improvement, and sufficiency of international resources;
ensure diplomas and credits attained by students at FIS are recognized internationally.
The Head of School will report the results and status of accreditation annually, via the Education Committee.
