FIS aims to attract/retain the highest qualified personnel, who will devote themselves to the education and welfare of students, and carry out a constantly improving program of instruction.
1. All faculty will have academic qualifications appropriate to teach the subject and grade level to which they are appointed. Faculty are appointed on objective criteria, without discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender or gender identity, nationality, ethnic origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation or marital status.
2. Faculty will hold an American-earned bachelor’s or master’s degree and teaching certification, or a British bachelor's or master's degree or Post Graduate Certificate of Education, or a German Staatsexamen I or II, or the equivalent of a teaching credential as determined by the head of school, based upon evidence of experience and comparable certification in any country.
3. Previous teaching experience is not an absolute requirement for appointment but is normally desirable.
4. All professional vacancies shall normally be advertised both inside and outside the school. An employee who believes him- or herself qualified for a position may submit an application.
5. The Head of School shall be responsible for recruiting and final selection of faculty and staff locally and abroad and shall establish board-approved recruitment and selection procedures.
6. All appointments shall be made by the Head of School who shall normally consult with the responsible principal before taking a final decision and, at his/her discretion, with affected faculty.
7. The Head of School shall comply with all works agreements.
