A. Bomb Threats
1. Any suspicious objects should be reported to the Crisis Team Chair immediately. The objects should not be handled and the area should be cleared. Under no circumstances should anybody get into a car to leave the campus.
2. Any person receiving a phone call bomb threat should try to ask the caller:
a) When is the bomb going to explode?
b) Where the bomb is located?
c) What kind of bomb it is?
d) What the bomb looks like?
e) Why was the bomb placed in the school?
The receiver should try to keep the caller talking as long as possible and record the following:
a) Time of call and duration
b) Age and sex of caller
c) Speech pattern, accent, possible nationality, etc.
d) Emotional state of caller (agitated, angry, etc.)
e) Background noise
3. The receiver should immediately report the call to the Crisis Team Chair.
4. The Crisis Team Chair asks the Hausmeisters to check the hallways and/or "common areas" and the route to the sports field for suspicious objects. If clear the Crisis Team Chair activates the signal to evacuate the building. If the sports field is unsafe the Crisis Team Chair will inform teachers to regroup as homerooms via intercom and to evacuate to safe houses.
5. The Crisis Team Chair will inform the police of the bomb threat so that a search of the building and campus can take place.
6. The Crisis Team Chair will convene a Crisis Team meeting.
7. Students and faculty/staff can return to the campus/buildings only when told to do so by the Crisis Team Chair or designees at safe houses.
