I remember being very interested when trailers for this TV series were first broadcast, it looked as though it would be an action-packed and exciting series.
However, I didn’t find that the initial episodes lived up to the trailers, so I didn’t tune in every week and thus missed several of the mid-season episodes. The last six or so episodes though grabbed my attention and from there on I was hooked.
The introduction of the Shadows, the overall story arc and the foreshadowing of future events that went on made this an unmissable show, at least up to the end of season four. Season five was a bit hit and miss and when I recently re-watched the series, I didn’t even bother to watch season five, I did, however, enjoy season one a lot more as I spotted all the little things that were being set up for future episodes.
The books were on offer from the book club I was a member of and I decided to buy them in the hope that they would fill in some of the gaps from the episodes I had missed from season one. As I have found with most novelizations of TV series or films, the books can clarify events, so are always worth reading, which was certainly the case here, as, besides the story, there were explanations and insights into how the series was planned and developed, which was just as fascinating to read.
