I was drawn to the first book in this series, as always, by the cover art, which because of its design seemed to be peering at me from the shelf. Once at the shelf I picked it up and read the synopsis on the back cover which intrigued me enough to take it to the checkout and purchase it.
I was rewarded with a story the likes of which I was not expecting, with aliens who were unique in their appearance and which posed a threat that was not the usual type encountered in sci-fi stories.
Both books are very interesting to read and certainly make you engage your sense of wonder.
In 3016, the 2nd Empire of Man spans hundreds of star systems, thanks to faster-than-light Alderson Drive.
Intelligent beings are finally found from the Mote, an isolated star in a thick dust cloud.
The bottled-up ancient civilization, at least one million years old, are welcoming, kind, yet evasive, with a dark problem they have not solved in over a million years.
