Xena: Warrior Princess
These books are original stand-alone novelizations of the TV series, which was one of the most popular shows on the UK terrestrial TV channel 5 in the late 1990s and was a program I enjoyed, both for its fast-paced action and adventure plots, as well as the humour, mythology and the leading ladies.
Unfortunately, like a lot of programs at this time, the satellite channel, Sky, bought the rights to show the series after the first couple of seasons. As I could not afford the cost of their subscriptions, I could no longer watch the show. Therefore, when I saw this set of books on sale in the book club catalogue I decided to purchase them. They are just as much fun to read as the show was to watch.

But when a band of armed raiders kidnap a group of maidens, Xena and Gabrielle must rely on Atalanta’s tracking skills to find the girls before it is too late.
But Atalanta may not be who she seems, and as the trail leads to a sphinx—one of the most dangerous and duplicitous creatures of the ancient world—Xena and Atalanta’s skills with the blade become meaningless, and only Gabrielle can save them.
