I Bring the Fire: A Loki Series

I bought the first book in this series on the spur of the moment after being intrigued by the synopsis and upon reading it found it to be truly entertaining, with the main character, Loki, just bursting with personality. It's rare that I laugh out loud while reading a book, but I did several times with this one, usually because of a comment issued by Loki.

The character of Loki has similarities to that portrayed in the Marvel movies, which the book mentions, as well as the comics, but is much more deeply explored working its way through most, if not all, of the mythology surrounding the character.

The second book has a tonal shift making it more sombre, though to be fair it still has many humorous moments. There are also several strong emotional moments, none more so than the one that takes place in a posh restaurant just over halfway through the book that caught me off guard and was truly impactful.

The relationship between Amy & Loki is an interesting one to see develop, as is Loki's character which is done through flashbacks to events in his life in Asgard making for fascinating and compulsive reading.

Wolves: I Bring the Fire: A Loki Series: Book 01

Amy Lewis is on her way to her grandma’s house. She's being chased by a very bad wolf.

Galaxies away Loki, Norse God of Mischief and Chaos, is waking up in a prison cell, strangely without a hangover, and with no idea what he’s done wrong—this time anyway. He does know Thor is hiding something, Odin is up to something wicked, and there seems to be something he’s forgotten...

Amy's and Loki's fates are about to collide. They'll have to work together to defeat gods, elves, magic sniffing cats, and nosy neighbours. If Loki can remember what he’s forgotten, and Amy can convince him not to be too distracted by Earthly gadgets, Earthly pleasures, or three day benders, they just might pull it off...

Monsters: I Bring the Fire: A Loki Series: Book 02

After being attacked by a serial killer, saved by Loki — so-called God of Mischief, Lies and Chaos — dragged to Alfheim, losing every cent in her bank account, and caring for her grandmother, Amy Lewis has lost her scholarship to veterinary school. But it’s alright. She has a plan. If she manages to keep her day job as a receptionist, and her night job as a vet tech, she may be able to get her scholarship reinstated and save enough money for the dreaded ‘miscellaneous fees.’

Too bad her day boss is unbearable...

Agent Steve Rogers has political aspirations, but when a suitcase nuke turns out to be something much worse and so-called Norse gods start showing up in his life, he has a priority shift.

Meanwhile, Loki’s priorities and plans haven’t changed at all. He wants Asgard to burn. Of course, earthly pleasures can be so distracting.

These three disparate characters have little in common, but they’ll have to join forces to save earth from trolls, wyrms, frost giant invasions, and an old evil growing beneath Chicago’s streets.

In this second volume of “I Bring the Fire,” chaos comes to our world and decides to stay. The nine realms will never be the same.
