This page shows the details of the book I am currently reading, which nowadays is exclusively an ebook. I used to read physical books, mostly paperbacks, but I did have a growing collection of Hardbacks. These, however, I had to sell or give away when I emigrated to Thailand in 2016.
I initially used a Kindle Touch when I emigrated, which I had bought in 2010 intending to try ebooks, but had never got around to using it. This Kindle stopped working in 2018, which prompted me to download the Kindle app onto both my first-generation iPad and my iPad Mini, later I also added it to my phone. The first generation iPad has been my preferred choice for reading when at home as it is more relaxing, being a larger screen, thus closer to book size and probably similar in weight. The phone comes in very handy though when I go out, especially if it is with the wife to a function, of which there is always a regular number here in Thailand, whether it is Weddings, Funerals or Monk ordinations. In most of these cases, she likes to spend a bit of time chatting, in Thai, with her friends, a language I have had limited success in learning or understanding, so while she is chatting I will sit and pass the time reading. I have found though that it is very difficult to read during the day using the phone because of the reflection off the screen. This prompted me to start looking at buying a new Kindle, not an easy thing living in South Thailand as shops do not stock them at all, in fact, no one even knew what a Kindle was. I, therefore, had to resort to buying online, but not from Amazon since they don’t have a presence in Thailand, but from Lazada, which is an equivalent sort of site. I finally ended up buying a Kindle Paperwhite in July 2022 and this very quickly became my preferred reading device, whether inside or out.

Yet deep below its bustling halls lies a complex and cavernous maze of abandoned rooms and ancient passageways - and in the heart of it all lives Auri.
Formerly a student at the University, now Auri spends her days tending the world around her. She has learned that some mysteries are best left settled and safe. No longer fooled by the sharp rationality so treasured by the University, Auri sees beyond the surface of things, into subtle dangers and hidden names.
