When I Die
By: John Kazerooni
When I die, let there be no mourning,
No heavy hearts or dark adorning.
Wear colors bright, let joy take flight,
And know I’m free, beyond the night.
Gather not to cry or grieve,
But raise a glass by the sea.
Celebrate, laugh, let joy be free—
For I am bound for eternity.
Take my ashes, soft and fine,
Scatter them where waters shine.
Let the waves, with grace untold,
Carry me to heavens bold.
So when I go, do not despair,
But fill the air with love and care.
Though I’m unseen, I’ll be quite near—
In every breeze, I’ll reappear.
