I’d Rather Write Than Speak
By: John Kazerooni
I’d rather write than speak,
Where words flow freely, clear in thought.
When I speak, they slip, disgraced,
Lost in haste, then gone to waste.
A spoken word, once cast, is set—
Mistakes I make, I can’t reset.
But in my writing, there’s the space
To smooth them out, to find their grace.
With pen in hand, I see what’s right,
Each thought refined, each line in sight.
I linger there, in quiet peace—
Yes, I’d rather write than speak my piece.
