I’d Rather the Storm Pass Than Ignite
By: John Kazerooni
I’d rather the storm pass when tempers rise,
And heart feels tight, I pause, close my eyes.
I breathe, I wait, let go of spite—
I’d rather the storm pass than ignite.
I watch the anger, the hurt, the strife,
Pass like shadows, parts of life.
Not mine to hold, just passing through,
Like clouds that clear to skies of blue.
And in this way, my peace I find,
The anger fades, it leaves my mind.
As calm returns, I feel more clear—
Choosing stillness over fear.
