How to use bat
The word bat can be used two ways: as a function word to indicate location, or as a prefix to indicate participation in an activity.
As a function word to indicate location, bat means "on" or "onto." Example: Kad bat shokita. (The sword is on the shelf.) Ni laami bat ruus. (I jump onto the rock.) Mhi bat me'sen. (We are on the starship.)
As a prefix to indicate participation in an activity, bat means "on" or "at." Attach bat with a beten to the noun that describes that activity. Example phrases:
bat'aka: on a mission
bat'akaan: at war
bat'balut: on patrol
bat'bora: at a job, at work
bat'briikasak: on a mission break
bat'kyr'vhetine: at the harvest, harvesting, working the harvest
Note: The use of bat as a prefix to indication participation is deduced from the canon expression bat'balut (on patrol). This also appears in the original wordlist as ba'balut, but I recommend using bat'balut in writing (regardless of whether you pronounce the "t") to prevent a misunderstanding with the contested prefix ba'.
