Teacher

How to translate the concept of teacher, mentor

With education as a core action of the Resol'nare, and every Mandalorian expected to pass on their knowledge to other Mandalorians so that the culture can survive, there is no need for a specialized word for "teacher."  Being a teacher is a vital, but secondary aspect of any person's duties to their clan and culture.

In traditional Mandalorian culture, the buir is the primary teacher, and all other adults should be ready to assist. Close relatives who are not the buir but are the same age range as the buir and help with teaching and care are ba'vodu (or ba'vod, if you are someone who considers ba'vodu to be a cutesy nickname) or ba'buir for relatives who are older than the parent's generation and act as teachers or mentors. Other adults would be called by their profession/primary skill set, their given/preferred name, or alor (leader).  If context does not indicate it,  add meg ba'juri adiike/ner ad/[name of kid] ("who teaches children/my child/[name]"). (Think of hibir as one who is currently learning or studying a specific topic, not necessarily a student in a school.)

In military contexts, the role of teacher might be taken over by a ruus'alor (sergeant) or gogi (a retired warrior who trains special forces).
