materials: newspaper, black and white scratchboard, water color.

artist statement: 

I started off by extensive planning out how I wanted to create this piece. I had wanted to take into consideration my peers critique so I went with one of them that really spoke to me. I used black and white scratchboard to represent cocain i this the chalthy and almost powder appearance of the drawing ties in the theme.

I then used a printed out new article about the negative effect of cocaine and how is controls lives. I hyper exaggerated the nasal cavity of the portrait to show some of the effects of cocaine, the burning pf the nasal cavity that comes after prolonged use of cocaine. i also used selective color to show this, the spattering onto the background was a way to tie the portrait and the printed newspaper.
