materials: black charcoal and compressed color pastels 

artist statement:

the women placed in the center surrounded by solid black I used to represent a suffocating loneliness. this was shown by the fetal position pressed on all sides of the paper and the women being the only person in the void.

I started by sketching and shading the hair and using white charcoal to  add highlights on the hair and body. different tones and colors used to show natural skin tones and pigmentations.
