artist statement:

I wanted to represent how I've felt throughout the years at freeport  high school. But I also want to state that it wasn't always negative I  have met some amazing people. But there were also some very negative emotion I have faced here at freeport.

I didn't do anything to the cover of the diploma to show that on the outside this school might appear like a great school but, the truth is that it works us students to exhaustion.

I started by making the polymer clay lips then hot glueing them to the diploma then using acrylic paint to color them. I designed what i wanted the throw up to looked like and what it should be on. i also hot glued pencils into the throw up to further emphasize that meaning behind the piece. I used sharpie and black pen to add more details to the throw up and books.
