artist statement: I took inspiration for the piece from another from the years in the past. Throughout my history of art, I have been trying to recreate this piece with as many mediums and Improvements as possible. throughout this piece, I came across some difficulties like placement and similar clay-related difficulties, though most were resolved.

I find that by using the same photo and recreating it multiple times and you can create different variants and see the Improvement as you are as an artist throughout the years. I have done this piece with graphite, paint, ink, clay, and multiple other mediums. throughout this, I've seen my development through the media and my skill.

I started like usual and sketched out the design in my sketchbook and on the clay then covered the clay platter with three layers of black underglaze. By doing this you cause a technique called sgraffito. Doing this you can see a pattern emerges and when fired the dark grey turns into pure black snd the clay turns into a bright white. This shows a great amount of contrast and you can truly show detail or Simplicity.
