sustained investigation #6

lust

materials: indigo ink and sharpie

Artist Statement:

Throughout the whole scene investigation process I've mostly focused on negative emotions. and I wanted to make a change to more positive emotions to represent, because it leaves room for exploration of designs and color.

I started with the materials I was going to use. I originally wanted to use watercolor and I ended up not using my final piece that I did with watercolor. I just wasn't getting that right saturation of textures with the water color and paper, so I switched to indigo ink where I had a little more control of the saturation. I wanted to use a different type of paper for my second try and I found a type of watercolor paper u had not used in many years!

When creating happy pieces is easier to not become overwhelmed by what one is creating, I connect very deeply with my art and create dark and desperate things. It's hard for me to get out of that feeling. So by creating work that is more positive it is almost self care.
