materials: black ink pen

artsist statement:

I originally started with a colorfuls, fairley details piece. but I wanted to move into something I wasn't as comfortable with, I haven't often worked with just black pen ink and line work. I wanted to leave less detail in the water because of the immense detail of the duck I felt as though the piece would be crowded and there would be a lot to look at, creating a more stressful piece.

I paid close attention to the light on the original photos of the ruddy ducks, in all my reference the light was very prominent, as well as shadows through the feathers and body of the bird.
