sustained investigation #3

Materials: plaster of Paris acrylic paint

Process: I started by filling a cylinder up with some plaster Paris. I had a hard time removing the cylinder from the plastic and he got damaging the cylinder. I didn't know if I wanted to carve an elephant or rhino. I had already done a rhino so I decided to carve a black mamba out of it.

I use many different tools like chisels and clay sculpting tools. eventually use the Chisel to make the rock texture that the snake was wrapping around. I color The Rock black in the snake red 2 simplify typical colors found on African tapestries and natural colors that are in the African environment.

I struggled with this piece deciding what I wanted to do and what I wanted to carve out of the cylinder. The biggest problem was cleaning up the mess afterwards because plaster would get everywhere. I eventually finished off with painting and carving patterns into the snake.
