materials: acrylic paint

artist statement:

I wanted to bring a piece that showed a positive and a negative emotion to create a completely opposite one. I focus on the idea that love and fear can create a sense of protection that one makes around themself. I brought in the negative aspects by dark colors and the face peering and hiding from the viewer.

I started originally just with a face with a dark background that had patterns, I thought that properly represented the fear aspect part of the peace but I wanted to bring more love into the art work. I did this by covering the face and flowers.

I started off with a simple sketch of a face. Originally it was going to be multiple faces but I decided to stick with one person to represent two feelings, I thought it would be more symbolic and humanizing.
