Charcoal + Ink

The subjects of my creation are rose bush seed pods, and the setting is outside during winter. I made this by using charcoal, white charcoal, and a little bit of white ink. I chose to draw the seed pods because I thought they would be really cool to draw. I created this by using a grid to get the shapes and arrangement close to exactly right.

The biggest composition technique I used was shading and color gradient. This is shown especially on the seed pods. My project evolved because I revised the color gradient and shading many times.

The story behind this artwork is that I was outside one day taking pictures of our farm animals with my mom, and I saw the seed pods and they looked really pretty. So I took a picture of them, and I thought of this picture to draw because I really liked it. This drawing relates to my life because of how much I liked the picture this was of, and when I really like something, I commit to it.
