Surrealism: Collage + Painting

The subject of my art is a painting of a collage I created. I made this by cutting out pictures from different magazines, glueing them on one paper, and matching the colors of the collage with acrylic paint on canvas paper. I chose to make this project because the images I found in the magazine were really thought provoking and interesting to me.

A composition technique I used was framing. This is shown in how the magazine cut-outs are framed in their own little worlds. My project evolved because I kept mixing color to try to get it to match the photos I had to revise and layered many colors to get it to be similar. I also changed the position of the fork, the red fossil, and the lemons and tire just a little.

The story behind this artwork is that we had to create a collage and prove our color matching skills by replicating it with paint. This relates to my life because I really enjoyed the images I chose. I wish I could have had more time on the project so I could layer more paint and make it look neater.
