Semester 1 Reflection:

Overall, I learned a lot in this class, such as about my peers, the importance of contest art, and using my materials effectively. I have been most successful with getting most of my work done and utilizing the time I am given. I think I have had more success when I have more time in class to figure out what I'm doing for the project, and then doing most of the project at home. I am more comfortable with my work that way. I have also been successful with reassessing most of my work and getting better grades than I would have if I didn't reassess. I have also been successful with trying out new concepts in my art; one's that I wouldn't have thought of using without this class.

I have most struggled with trying to figure out what I was doing for many assigned projects. A lot of the topics and contests I had no interest in, so it was hard for me to be motivated to do the work. I also had a hard time with getting projects and artist statements done on time. It was more about finding the time and motivation to do it than anything. I don't like having a time-limit to work with because it makes me feel unnecessarily rushed. So I have had a hard time liking the art projects too.

My artistic goals moving forward are to be more motivated, solely for the love of art. I like making art, so I want to be able to do it easily. I also want to learn more ways to create art, and be more comfortable with the different materials. I want to be able to experiment more with my work. And lastly, I hope to incorporate the topics that I am interested in into the topics that I am assigned, so that way I can have more fun with it.
