The ideas that are evident in these pieces are humans in relation to the Earth, and animal rights in relation to experimentation. The story about these works is that I could not choose which one I wanted to do, so I did both. I did this by giving myself a lot of extra time after finishing my first piece. These projects relate to my life because I feel strongly about both of these topics.

For the first piece (with the planets + alien), I used markers and black ink pen. For the second piece (with the mice), I used watercolor and a black ink pen.

I started with sketching out the design I chose, and then I filled in the space with color, and then outlined. I experimented with this by choosing the colors I thought would work/look the best. My projects evolved because I was just going to leave the backgrounds plain, but I realized that they would not look good at all if I did that. They needed something a little more to draw in the eye. So I created the backgrounds you see now. My next step for the planets project could be evening out the black color in the background. My next step for the mice project could be to fill in the rest of the white space in the background and erase any pencil lines.
