Artist Statement:

For this project, I decided to remake my SI #13 of Amabie. I chose to remake this artwork because I felt like I could make it less stiff-looking and change some proportioning and arrangement of the features so the creature could look better overall. My goal was to make Amabie look more fluid and like she is actually in the water. I did this by making her tails look like they are in motion and her hair look like it's floating.

The materials I used for this project were a sheet of drawing paper and an HB pencil. I used just a pencil because I ran out of time to finish it.

My process in creating this project was to first change the proportions of some features. I did this by making her beak smaller and her ears larger. Along with angling the eyelashes and giving her pupils, her facial features became much prettier. I also rearranged the placement of her tails, which made them look less awkward. Lastly, I changed the placement of her features to make them look in-motion. I did this by drawing the tails like they were catching water, and her hair puffed out like it is floating.
