Seahorses and Coral

We were given paper with ink splotches on them and had to create something out if it. We also had to fill in the background and activate three sides with some sort of object. I saw a seahorse in the ink, and had the idea the fill up the space with coral. This relates to my life because I love seahorses. They look so amazing that they remind me of mythical creatures.

The materials I used include watercolor paper, HB pencil, watercolor markers, water, paper towels, a fine-point ink marker, patterned paper, a circle shape-puncher, and Elmer's Glue.

I started out by sketching out my idea on the paper, and then I did filled in the ocean, coral, and the seahorses last. I experimented with my project by changing the shade of the ocean in certain places, changing the color of the—now purple—coral, adding shadowing to the pink coral, and adding the circles to cover up mistakes. My next steps with this could be to add more collage paper and add more details to the seahorses in the background.
