The Freeport Falcon

Anchor

The class was assigned two different logo projects. One was to create a logo for a random noun, and the other was to create a logo for Freeport High School. I chose to make the falcon wearing a sweatshirt for the Freeport High School logo because I thought it would be interesting and different. I chose to make the Anchor logo like that because I wanted to incorporate the actual anchor into the 'A' and have the rope wrapped around the other letters.

I used HB pencil and drawing paper to create the anchor logo, and I used an angled black marker and drawing paper to create the Freeport High School design.

The process I used when creating 'anchor' was that I started with trying to figure out how I could incorporate the actual anchor into the letters. Once I did that, I drew in the letters and the anchor. I realized the design needed a little something more, so I drew a rope tied to the anchor that snaked around the other letters. My next steps with this project could be to make the lettering neater and go over it with a thick black marker.

The process I used when creating the FHS design was that I knew I wanted to make something to do with a falcon, but I also wanted to anthropomorphize it, which means make it more human. I thought that a cool way to do this would be to add an FHS sweatshirt to it. I started out by sketching the bird's head, then the body and feathers, then the sweatshirt and feet. I added a lot of stripes to the feathers, and made the tipe two different shapes. My next steps with this project would be to experiment with the dark and light space by making a lot thicker dark lines.
