Cut Paper Relief

Sky Mountains

The story behind this work is that we were given a landscape relief project to do in order to learn how to use the Cricut cutting machines for the future. I knew I wanted to use clouds and mountains, but I wanted to do something interesting so I did an imaginary floating world. This way I could incorporate both and make it intriguing. This project relates to my life because I enjoy thinking up fictional worlds.

The materials I used fro this work was the Cricut machine and app, foam stick-ons, Elmer's Glue, watercolor paper, and construction paper.

I started by creating a design on the Cricut app, and then I put the paper on the sticky mats and had the machine cut them out. I arranged the pieces of paper how I thought would look the best and took a picture of it. I referred back to the picture when I was glueing the pieces on. I popped some pieces up with the foam stick-ons. My project evolved because I decided to have some of the clouds coming off the page, and I added little stars. My next steps would be to glue a white background onto the back of the black paper, and to add some snowy trees next to the mountains.
