Our family likes curry and I am so disappointed with the quality of store-bought chutney that I make this up when cranberries are in season.
Combine 1 lb. fresh cranberries , 1 cup seedless raisins, 1 2/3 cup sugar, 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon, 1 1/2 tsp. ground ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves and 1 cup water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil and cook 15 min. or until berries pop and mixture thickens. Stir in 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 medium-sized apple - pared, cored and chopped - and 1/4 cup chopped almonds. Simmer 15 min. more. Mixture should be thick. Pour into sterilized jars. Store in refrigerator. Makes 4 cups.
