Plaitford-Melchet Court
Walked January 2022
This 5km walk includes woodland, parkland and farm land. Start at Plaitford Green (w3w.co/embarks.prospers.simply ). There is a small triangle of grass there that I parked on but be mindful of the residents. Fairly dry in summer, this can be muddy in the final loop in winter. There is a good view of Melchet Court.
1.
Take the footpath along the track into the woods from Plaitford Green. Continue until you find a finger post at a path junction directing you to Melchet Court and take that route.
2.
The path crosses a track, passes some beehives and narrows round the edge of some fields.
3.
Just after the beehives look back for a view of the early 20th century house which replace the original 17th century one. This is now a school.
4.
Once past the school, the footpath turns left onto a track. Continue down this until it splits. Do NOT take the one in the picture, take the second one towards a group of house.
5.
At the white house at the end the path takes a sharp turn left.
6.
Follow the footpath signs until you come to a crossroads where 4 paths meet. Take the left hand footpath and follow it back to the original three way finger post. This time, turn right and take the path back to Plaitford Green.
