This quiet 10km (6 mile) flat walk includes a Roman road and site of a Roman fort, the chapel of a Saxon Abbey and a decommissioned nuclear power station. Also views across the River Blackwater estuary.
Park at the East End Road car park (https://w3w.co/mule.worm.dynasties) and take the path to St Peters and the sea.

At the end of the old Roman road path is the Chapel of St Peter's on the Wall, all that remains of a Saxon Abbey founded by St Cedd and built on the site of a Roman fort.

Take the path along the sea wall to the left of the chapel. To the left of the path is the Othona Community, named after the Roman fort, it was created after the second world war to bring people of different backgrounds together. Details here -https://www.othonaessex.org.uk/

As the path turns the corner, you see one of the many pill boxes built to protect the area during World War 2.

A short detour from the path takes you along the sandy shoreline.

Continue on past the Bradwell Nuclear Power Station.

At Bradwell Quay, head inland with a possible stop off at the Green Man pub

Continue up the road to the right hand bend and take the footpath to the right of The Old Post Office. Then take the right fork footpath across the fields until you reach the road. Turn left for a short way until you see the War Memorial.

To the right of this memorial is an explanation of the the WW2 airfield. Take the airfield road to the right of the memorial.

Watch out for the footpath on the right a little way along the road.

Take the concrete footpath until you meet the road. Turn left and follow the Roman road back to the car park.
