This 4.5 mile starts a on the main road at Rhoslefain (grid ref: SH 574 060) and loops south with views of the sea and farmland. It passes through a traditional farmyard and an old quarry, before returning up a very quiet road, past the railway station. It's possible to vary the route via the beach and see the shingle spit and a very impressive footbridge.
We stayed at the Cae Du Campsite and in hindsight, would have returned via the beach rather than along the road.
The village of Tonfanau has a small railway station. It was the site of an army training camp during the Second World War with some 600 soldiers training as anti-aircraft gunners. In 1972 it was used as a refugee camp for people fleeing the Idi Amin regime in Uganda. There is also a network to roads used for motorbike racing.
