This 6.8km route takes in the rewilded reed beds of Leighton Moss, majestic views of the 18th century Leighton Hall, woodland and long distance views of the Lake District.
Start from the RSPB Visitor Centre at Leighton Moss. Follow the route through the nature reserve (dogs allowed on a lead). Alternatively, join the route at the end of the straight Right of Way path from the road.
As you cross the reserve, take in the views across the marshes then continue on beyond the reserve and into the farm land beyond.
At Leighton Hall follow the footpath up the hill, stopping to take in the view. Then down the other side.
Where the path branches at the bottom, turn left and take the unmarked gate under the trees.
Continue through the trees and out into the open. Just before the path returns into the woods, take the route on the left over the stile and over the rocks.
When the narrow path meets the main track, turn left through the woods. Continue on the path out of the trees and across the fields until you reach the track you started from. Turn right and retrace your steps back to the start.
