This 6.9 mile walk started and finished at Winchelsea Beach in East Sussex (grid reference TQ911155, what3words.com/processes.notices.examiner), taking in Rye Harbour and the nature reserve. It can easily be shortened to suit your needs and is almost totally flat. It includes the baron shingle spit, entrance to Rye Harbour, WW2 Gun shelter, tragic lifeboat story, a Martello Tower and the nature reserve. It can be adapted to make it wheelchair accessible.

Park either in the Winchelsea Beach car park or along the sea front just past the beach cafe. Climb the steps up to the top of the sea defences or walk along the road behind them, past the lifeboat station until you reach the opening to Rye Harbour.Turn left and follow the path up past the visitor centre and into the village. There are a number of interpretation and story boards along the route to explore. In the village there are eating places and toilets. We had a very nice soup in the William The Conqueror pub.

Go north up the main street, past the Inkerman Arms pub and take the footpath/track on the left. Follow this until you return to the start.
