This 15km walk follows the north bank of the Crouch estuary from North Fambridge to Burnham on Crouch. Mainly flat (there is one tiny hill) it has constant views out over the internationally important mudflats at low tide or water at high tide and the countryside beyond.
Park in Burnham-on-Crouch and catch the beautiful, modern, single track electric train to North Fambridge. There was a train every half hour when we walked the route. For a much shorter walk, get off the train at Althorne Station.
The railway line survived the Beeching cuts of the 1960s as there was a local power station which it served.
