Wellness Wishes for September 2012

9/25/12

Have you ever considered the difference between *happiness* and *contentment?* We can't strive for happiness--there will be days (momma said) that get us down. We can shoot for contentment, even during "suffering" we can hold on to "peace."

I'm glad we are emphasizing "we CAN be drug free" during this year's Red Ribbon Week celebration! There is so much we CAN'T do, it's good to focus on what we CAN.

*Peace* be with you all-we CAN do it!

9/19/12

We do this as a closing song @ Jazzercise (Paul McCartney version):

You've got to accentuate the positive

Eliminate the negative

And latch on to the affirmative

Don't mess with Mister In-Between

In my yoga classes, sometimes the instructor asks us “yogis” to “set an intention” at the beginning of the practice. I love that idea! if I get my mind there, my body will follow! If I think positively, I’ll stay on the sunnyside of life. Of course, that doesn’t mean the rain won’t fall . . . students may not follow directions, others will let you down, you’ll get sick or injured, etc. But if you approach with good intentions, you have a better chance at arriving at the desired destination! Decide on a positive outcome and it’ll happen (and you’ll have the tools and resources to help you through those troubled times along the way).

Be well on Wednesday (and every day)!

9/13/12--Fun with Flexibility

Here's some stretches posted @ livestrong.com that would be great to include in your 10 minutes of morning stretching:

Take care of you and S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

9/12/12--Wellness Wishes on Wednesday

Dr. Oz describes 8 Habits to “live better and live longer” in the October 2012 issue of Prevention Magazine! Habit #1 is “Stretch first thing in the morning.” He explains that stretching for 10 minutes every morning decreases risk of heart attack, alleviates stress, and improves circulation. He shares “you can feel the effects in just 10 days.”

Blessed are the flexible for they will not break!

9/6/12 -- Lollipops Moments

M-C, Vangie and I saw this video yesterday when we were “collaborating!” It’s about 6 minutes long.

Take time to thank someone for a “lollipop moment” today!
