11/30
We introduced each other and read Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great by Bob Shea. We discussed how Goat thinks about Unicorns strengths but Unicorn thinks about his weaknesses. We all have things about ourselves that we like and don't like.
We began "The Name Game" and "I Am Special" activity. These are from the resource Building Self-Esteem with Koala-Roo Can-Do. The purpose of these is to identify characteristics about ourselves and each other. We'll find some common denominators and also celebrate ways we are unique.
We brainstormed ways we can help others. Pass It On's campaign this week has been about how helping others helps us:
Nov 27, 2017 -- To help yourself, help others. Whatever good you do travels a circle and returns to you many times over-but remember life isn't about what you get, it's about what you become. ~Dennis Gaskill
Nov 28, 2017 -- Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us everyday. ~Sally Koch
Nov 29, 2017 -- If you're not making someone else's life better, then your wasting your time. Your life will become better by making other lives better. ~Will Smith
Nov 30, 2017 -- Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others. ~Booker T. Washington
Dec 1, 2017--There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up. ~John Holmes

We talked about how we do have things in common and things that make us different and unique! We continued "The Name Game" and "I am Special" activities. We shared one of the ways each identified as "special" to the group, i.e. "My favorite tv show is . . ., My best friend is . . ., My favorite color . . . "
On our next meeting day, Thursday, 1/4, we will begin our service project.

We read The Bad Seed and then discussed how experiences connect us with feelings. When we help others, how does that make us feel? Who are some people that help in our school? How can we show them appreciation?

Make Snowflakes for Favorable Flurries! We used templates from http://www.firstpalette.com/tool_box/printables/snowflake.html
We brainstormed a list of people to share snowflakes with and what kind of candy to attach.
Here's a video explaining what we did and will do!
