Stress is ENERGY!, 2/19/16
Edie and I attended an Institute for Brain Potential Seminar on Thursday: Habits of Stress-Resilient People
It was an AMAZING experience! One of the best AHAs of the day: Stress is not BAD for you . . . "Change your mind about stress, and you can change your bodies response to stress!"
Here's a youtube that explains! It's a little investment--14 1/2 minutes, but I think it's worth it?!

Stress. It makes your heart pound, your breathing quicken and your forehead sweat. But while stress has been made into a public health enemy, new research suggests that stress may only be bad for you if you believe that to be the case. Psychologist Kelly McGonigal urges us to see stress as a positive, and introduces us to an unsung mechanism for stress reduction: reaching out to others.
To "change your mind about stress," join us for Yoga Fun 3:00-3:30 on Monday afternoons or beginning 10 minutes after the conclusion of faculty meeting. We'll meet in Mrs. Moo's classroom. Folks who've participated are more relaxed, more flexible, and more resilient. :-)
TREEmendous Fun~
When you pretend to be a tree, it helps reduce anxiety, a scattered mind or frenetic energy. It also helps children feel stable in their bodies, steady in mind and balanced in mood and emotions.
Take a deep breath and stand tall. Press the sole of one foot to the ankle/lower leg, keeping your toe on the floor as a "kickstand." Your balancing leg is straight and strong, but don't lock your knee. You can raise your "branches" high to help with balance. Squeeze your tummy muscles if you wobble. Breathe! Try it on the other side. It's helpful to find a focal point if it's difficult to balance.
