Smart Brain (Prefrontal Cortex) vs. Stressed Brain (Amygdala)
So I learned this summer that your prefrontal cortex (the wise leader) is located in the "upstairs" part of the brain . . . and the amygdala (the security guard) is in the "downstairs" part . . . The good news is the concepts shared were correct even in the "place of residence" for these parts of the brain was not . . . The prefrontal cortex is where you do your best thinking and make your best decisions! We'll now call it the "Smart Brain." The amygdala is your source for the"flight, fight, and freeze" response. We'll now call it the "Stressed Brain." Thank you for being "loose" and flexible with your thinking! We'll continue to (1) Breathe (2) Exercise (3) Sit Still and Quiet to move a stressed brain to a smarter one. ~8/25/2020 :-)
