What is a bully?
(1) physical, verbal, cyber, social, racial abuse
(2) repetition -- over and over again
(3) imbalance of power -- big somebody squishing on a little somebody
(4) intent to harm -- purposeful
Is it a monkey friend (rude)? Is it a shark friend (mean actions)? Is it a snake friend (mean words)? Is it a bully?
Picking your nose.
Listening to gossip.
Making fun of someone’s looks, clothes or family.
Telling someone everyday they don’t have any friends.
Sharing gossip or rumors.
Interrupting a person who is talking.
Laughing at someone who falls down.
Always running away from someone who wants to join your game on the playground.
Bullies: gossip, leave others out, threaten, boss, deny or lie about doing the wrong thing, put others down,
are snooty, gang up on others, name call, have poor manners, yell
Bullying prevention is the safest, most effective way to reduce bullying behavior.
Bullying behavior stops learning, causes harm, spreads fear. Not okay.
What can you do?
Share with a trusted adult right away!
Be empathetic, be empowered, be assertive.
