Behavior change in addiction - stages
6 stages of behavior change in addicted personalties:
Precontemplation = denies problem; no intention of changing
Contemplation = Acknowledges problem; seriously thinks about solving it
Preparation = Committed to action; needs to plan
Action = Modifies behavior and surroundings
Maintenance = At risk for relapse if not committed to following through with changes
Termination = No continuing effort needed; addiction no longer a threat.
