TBW = 60% of lean body mass

ICF = 2/3 TBW

ECF = 1/3 TBW

Plasma = 1/4 ECF or 1/12th of TBW

Interstitial fluid = 3/4 ECF or /14th TBW

• • Be aware that half of hospitalized AIDS patients have hyponatremia

    • Impaired renal function

    • HAART therapy

    • CMV, TB adrenalitis

    • Ketoconazole impairs glucocorticoid and mineralocorticoid synthesis

    • SIADH.
